Interrogation Room was actually assigned as a comedy, and we made it as a comedy…hahaha.

Don’t worry; so was “Tribute to Buttons”. I suppose that can just be chalked up to different comedy styles.

    But genre shouldn’t matter, right?

Good times were had, but the genre-assigning needs to go. Not necessarily because of the different approaches the judges have to make to properly judge each one (and I personally believe they did a horrible job at being non-biased towards genres), but more from the filmmaker standpoint. We were assigned Drama – and my team hates drama. Just not a fan of them. Why would we make a drama film? It just doesn’t fit us. By choosing a category for the team, you potentially force them into creating a film they just cant get fully behind, because at their own core, they’re not fans of the genre, and that just isn’t truly fair.
