More Info:
Like the previous Wild West Film Fests, it is a 48-hour marathon of filming, a challenge for the most experienced filmmakers. Entry forms that contain the secret criteria can be picked up July 10, at Henry’s Coffee House in Lawrence and Fred P. Otts at the Plaza in Kansas City. Finished films (no longer than 5 minutes) are due 48 hours later, on July 12, at Liberty Hall in Lawrence or Hollywood at Home on the Plaza.
“The time limit is great, though” says Chris Dorsey, founder of the festival. “Everyone is facing the same challenge. It sort of levels the playing field.”
Tickets for the screening will be available to the public for $5-7. The top three films as voted by a panel of judges will receive prizes as will the people’s choice winner. The festival’s proceeds will go to benefit Women’s Transitional Care Services.
“What a great opportunity for young filmmakers to show their craft for good causes. Everybody wins!”
“The Wild West Film Fest has been bringing it to the Lawrence film scene. It is one of the best examples of what filmmakers are looking for in a festival.”
“The Wild West Film Fest puts filmmaking back into the hands of the people. It’s indy film in it’s purest, grittiest form. A great opportunity for local filmmakers to get their work seen by audiences.”
