Hey film makers-just wanted let everyone know about a sweet little festival held by KC Independent Filmmakers Coalition this weekend. Its a great opportunity to warm up for the Wild West Film Fest! Its the 9th annual IFC “One Night Stand”. This year it will take place Saturday June 20th. IFCKC’s “One Night Stand” i sthe first of its kind and is the only film contest that challenges teams to write, shoot, edit and screen a short film in just ten hours.

Filmmakers from around the KC metro area will meet at the Just Off Broadway Theatre, 3051 Central, in Penn Valley Park for registration beginning at 9:00 Saturday morning. At 9:30 a theme, an object, and a line of dialogue from a famous movie, will all drawn at random. The teams must work all three into their films.

After a furious ten hours of shooting and editing, the films must be turned into the IFCKC by 7:30 pm at the Just Off Broadway Theatre. Around 8:00, the films will be screened and judged by delegates from the film and television industry. Three Judges Awards will be selected, along with a Captain’s Award, chosen by all the team leaders, as well as the Audience Choice Award.

The “One Night Stand” is open to anyone who has an interest in acting or filmmaking. Many teams form ahead of time, but newcomers are encouraged to show up at the drawing and volunteer their skills. Entry is $25 per team and each team will receive two tickets to the screening that night.

Movie lovers and fans of independent film are encouraged to attend the screening. Tickets are $5 at the door for IFCKC members, $8 for non-members.
The Wild West Film Fest Team will be at the festival Saturday Night so stop by and show your support for both festivals!
